Planning & Development Manager



The Role

We’re working with a privately owned and well-capitalised real estate investment and development company looking for a Planning and Development Manager to work closely with the MD, to help drive the current projects forward and also grow the business/book of projects.


You’d be part of the land development business that seeks to option up/purchase land and take it through the planning process to secure planning consents then either trade the land or build out under a JV.


The team has significant experience in opportunistic land development, healthcare, employment, hotels, residential and retail sectors. Current projects in Essex, Surrey Heath and Chiltern area.


The person would be part of a small team, and should have experience in the following:

1) Review land opportunities to form a high level “go, non-go” view on whether to progress.

2) Negotiate land deals direct with land owners.

3) Structuring acquisitions (options, promotion agreements, conditional and unconditional structures)

4) Have a good understanding of the planning systems/Local Plans.

5) Be aware of the current complexities that planning presents and be able to lead a team of external consultants to promote a site, and run planning applications.

6) Structure and deal with potential exits for the site, to include residential, care, commercial and other uses.

7) Track record in unlocking strategic sites (with some Greenbelt experience).


Head office is in Central London with a flexible working policy in place. Salary is dependent on experience + package + generous bonus scheme.
