Assistant Portfolio Management Role - Resi Alternatives


The Role

Hands on Assistant Portfolio Management role working for an established and acquisitive UK Fund, that is part of a larger international Investment Management business. They have a very well respected and experienced team, and now need to further expand by bringing on an additional Portfolio / Asset Manager to support the expanding AUM. They are very acquisitive in the PBSA market and now need someone with strong Student Accommodation, or other Operational Asset class experience to take ownership of driving value across this portfolio.
Their ideal candidate must be MRICS, with at least 6 years PQE, with existing clientside Portfolio or Asset Management experience. Candidates need to understand how to really drive value from a portfolio, as well as having experience of Asset level performance reporting to investors and banking partners. The role will involve implementation of asset management initiatives such as rent setting and tier strategy, OPEX, Operator Performance, H&S, refurbishments and hold / sell analysis; as well as Investment acquisitions and successful onboarding of new sites.

They offer a fast paced and collaborative environment, and quite a lot of responsibility as you’ll be given your own portfolio to look after. There are opportunities to also work on some of their European assets and future career options include working on a variety of different funds, and different asset classes.

  • Leading the strategic and pro-active asset management of PBSA assets in the UK and, in time, Europe.
  • Responsibility for external and internal reporting and client liaison, as well as reporting to financing banks
  • Implementation of asset management initiatives including rent setting & tier strategy, opex & maintenance, operator performance, H&S, Refurbishments and hold / sell analysis
  • Market facing, sourcing and acquisition of assets and their successful onboarding
  • Day to day direction of appointed consultants including operator, lawyers and valuers
  • Development of asset level asset business plans in conjunction with the Portfolio Manager
  • Financial cash flow modelling, performance reporting and evaluation of proposed initiatives
  • Coordinating with internal teams including Treasury, Finance Managers and Research to ensure business plan and client advice is supported by all relevant stakeholders
  • Preparation and delivery of board recommendations
  • Implementation of ESG strategies in accordance with company objectives, policies and procedures

  • A minimum of 6 years’ experience in an asset/portfolio management role.
  • Excellent communication skills with ability to present both verbally and in written reports
  • Experience coordinating and collaborating with different business functions internally
  • Ability to manage third party providers (valuers, lawyers etc
  • Pan European experience is preferred, but not essential
